Today it is important to any high school teen to have a high school rival. There’s a college in California whose mascot is the panther. There was nothing bigger and better in this little town than the homecoming game. The hint of hot dogs and excitement could be smelled for miles. Then the time came for the panther mascot to show what he had learned. The boy started with a tribute to Michael Jackson with the famous thriller dance. Man he could move with liquid motion in that suit. As he stopped he ran past the stands and then he ran past the locker rooms and the foot ball team came into his sprint and the took the field. After each article there would be a great roar in the stands as the panther mascot did the worm on the track that surrounds the field. Then there had to be drama. The wildcat mascot got annoyed and came at the panther with a run. But knowing that that was going to happen the panther mascot was prepared for anything. He had gone though self-defense classes in case that would happen just like the previous years. As the panther manipulated his body to throw the wildcat on the ground the crowd went on another frenzy with the smash of the wildcat head. The Panther got up holding the head of the wild cat and threw it into the stands and they tossed it around like a beach ball at a {party. The enemy wildcat boy walked back to his side clearly humiliated.
There is nothing better than school spirit. Some folks think that college spirit is a waste of your time and energy but if we are smart we will be able to see the advantages of college sprits till our older years. If we just learn and apply what that young man had to do to meet the convention of the panther mascot we too can be successful. If we are going to be prepared to do flips and please folk. We’re going to have a head start. Also, if we are to prepare for the surprises in life we’re going to be a nicer person in the final analysis throwing the head of the rival mascot into the stands. Life is a straightforward thing that if we get prepared for a difficult time we’ll be better at the end. Remember life isn’t about waiting for the hurricane to pass, it’s to go out and dance in the rain. I think that everybody recollects their high school mascot. Mine was the fierce husky that would drag their enemy to their death. Our school color was purple, the jocks would wear that girly color with pride with their sports uniform. Every time that homecoming would come around we’d get our paint together and paint the Ponderosa Mustangs ( Ponies ) grass a lovely color of purple. No self-respecting person in our small city would be able to handle the color of the rival ponies. It was the hideous color of maroon that with their high school mascot of a mustang that would make any self respecting husky sick. Our mascot meant something special to us. If you concentrate on a husky, there is courage, loyalty, and trust. It’s a perfect illustration of how a high school mascot should be. Every time that we’d have a home game we would see the genuine husky that our school purchased bring out the silly boys on the football team. Just hearing the song Who Let the Dogs Out and seeing the majestic animal run with his loyal teens behind him still brings chills down my spine until this day.

Ohhh man I’m scared the funny man with overalls named Fred is chasing me with a beet in his hand. Yep I don’t believe that that is the apex of the pecking order. Another one that just seems funny to me is the saber pussies. Why would I suspect that that is funny? Well just the fact that they choose a high school mascot that was snuffed out by little bacteria doesn’t make any animal look tuff. I believe that in mascot heaven they ridicule the saber moggy. I’m sure that Fred is throws his leftover beets at the poor small pussy pussy which has tears in his eyes. The worst of them all is the winged beaver from Connecticut. I have not seen a winged beaver and i hope that I never do. Because if i did that would suggest that I am going funny and am hallucinating.

Just thinking about the little memories that I have from the simple dog that we had as a mascot brings tears to my eyes. A mascot can make or break your high school. I remember seeing my first panther mascot I was little and we were watching my brother beat the Winchester Panthers. Who would have known how crazy they could get thos panthers. I honestly think that that costume had something magical inside of it. In between matches we would do some crazy tricks where he would do flips and swirls in the air with no forms of knowing how he did it.
The legend of the magic panther mascot goes back 100 years. It all started in 1907 when a high school in North Carolina. There was a little boy named Ricky James who wanted to be a basketball player but he wasn’t tall enough. The coach said that he would never be good enough to play basketball and then said that he could be a mascot. He then threw the panther mascot costume at him and said get to practicing. Poor little Ricky got so mad and hurt that he ran home with the costume in hand thinking that he would never be able to have fun playing basket ball. While he was running the heavens opened up on him. It hadn’t rained like that for years. It was as if the ocean was going through another hurricane like the year before. Then he felt a sudden sting and a bright flash with a crack of a sound. He woke up the next day thinking to himself how did he get home? Then he saw the suit and started laughing at his coach. As a joke he put on the costume. He looked through the mirror at himself and said what a joke and he threw himself on the bed. But to his surprise he flew up and hit the ceiling and fell back on the bed. He took off the head piece and thought to himself the suit is strong now. So lil Ricky started practicing his flips and swirls in his backyard, getting ready to prove to that coach what a real player was. Then he left for the school game and told his coach that he was ready to make the presentation at halftime.
The game was at a tie and the players left the court tired and ready to talk with their coach. Then the lights turned pitch black. Then a spot light turned on the backboard and there was the panther mascot hanging on the bars carrying a basketball. The fans started screaming like a warplane was going to kill them. The panther then back flipped to dunk the basketball then landed. The crowd had never seen anything like that before. Then he grabbed the ball again then he threw it at the other backboard and started to run and jumped at the free throw line and grabbed the ball out of the air and dunked it. The coach came out and asked Ricky to be a part of the team and Ricky said that he wasn’t anything without the panther mascot costume and that he would continue doing the half time show.
